Chennai: “The year 1984 was an important one in the history of Tamilnadu. That was the time MGR granted permission to over 10 private engineering colleges. Those seeds have now sprouted into over 500 colleges,” said VIT University Founder-Chancellor G Viswanathan.
He said this during the birth centenary celebrations of MGR and unveiling of his statue at the University premises in Chennai today.
“MGR has always been friendly even with people who didn’t get along with him. I am a great example for that. Between my transition between DMK and AIADMK multiple times, I had revolted against MGR but still he treated me well,” he added. Read More
